PEONIA
Inspired by the artists of the decadence and the symbolist, this collection of digital paintings walk us through the myth of a majestic Nymph called Paeonia, who’s beauty was so overwhelming that it caught the attention of the God Apollo.
As the story goes Apollo looked at her and her cheeks turned red, and for the moment their eyes crossed they belonged to each either. But this love story has an abrupt end, because the Gods are as powerful as they are cruel.
The ephemeral moment that Paeonia and Apollo lived ended up in a dreadful tragedy. Aphrodite, the goddess of love, filled with rage and jealousy looked at the scene of love between the Nyphm and the God with pure hatred. In an instant of chaos and overwhelming feelings she cursed the Nymph Paeonia and transformed it into the flower that we all know by the name of Peony.
Legend says that the peonies are red because of the blush on the Nymph cheeks when Apollo and her gazed into each other's eyes.
Each artwork represents a micro moment of this short love story forever fixed in time and in each painting is coded with secrets about this nymph and her last instants of existence as a conscious being.
“ But if you love and must needs have desires, let these be your desires: To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night. To know the pain of too much tenderness. To be wounded by your own understanding of love; And to bleed willingly and joyfully “ Khalil Gibran Khalil
